Fr. Brad d. Guillory, OSB obl,
a priest of the Diocese of Lafayette, LA
and an oblate
of Mother of the Redeemer Monastery
in Plaisunce, LA
celebrated Mass for the Sisters
of Holy Angels Convent
on the Memorial of
Pope Blessed John Paul II.
The collect and portions of the homily
were taken from the
recently approved texts
for the Mass and Liturgy of the Hours
for use in the United States.
This observance marked the first time
the propers for Blessed John Paul II
were used by both Fr. Guillory
and the community
to give worship to God
and honor the Pope of happy memory.
Collect for the
Memorial Mass:
O God, who are rich in mercy
and who willed that the
Blessed John Paul the Second
should preside as Pope
over your universal Church,
grant, we pray, that instructed
by his teaching,
we may open our hearts to the
saving grace of Christ,
the sole Redeemer of mankind.
Who lives and reigns with you
in the unity of the Holy Spirit
one God for ever and ever.
Amen
